Shelly Stack                                                         CI, CT

Hi, my name is Michelle Stack but people call me Shelly.  I would love to work with you to service any interpreting needs you might have. I am a skilled, certified interpreter residing and working primarily in Rochester, NY. I became immersed in the deaf community and culture when I met Deaf students at a local community college in North Carolina way back in 1991.  In 1996, I received my bachelors degree from the University of NC at Greensboro and over the next ten years, I developed my expertise and skills working as both a staff and freelance interpreter including working with the Deaf-Blind community. In 2002, I moved to Washington, DC where I continued to advance my skills and increase my experiences, including working with a number of governmental agencies.

In 2005, I moved to Rochester, NY and worked for a local interpreting agency in their VRS center as a supervisor and corporate trainer. This type of work opened my eyes to thinking how I can best work with the deaf community as well as to be an ally with those who wish to be Deaf-centered. Currently, my goal is to expand my practice and work more closely with the deaf community on a personal level across the country.

My personal commitment is to provide clients responsible and confidential services.  Striving to uphold high standards of professionalism is of vital personal importance.  References are available from former clients and fellow interpreters. Copies of my national certifications and current affiliations are available on my credentials page.

In order to work with you, please use the request an interpreter form or email me at interpreting@shellystack.com.  Completing this form will help me better understand your interpreting needs.  I am also happy to be a resource and answer any questions you might have.

Working with you would be my pleasure!

Shelly Stack
